Another sketch for the Diner Journal article about goats, the basic idea was to cram as much goat-realted myth iconography as possible. Finished illo and a link to the article PDF here.
Sketch for a Diner Journal article by Scarlett Lindeman about goats and how the fit in at the table and in stories. Finished illo here.
Watercolor from Sienna. This is really old. 90-something-something, I dug it up for another project and as long as it's handy it can go here too.
This is a sketch from last year. It was for the Diner Journal's 2008 cover. There is an image of the final at my portfolio : ethancornell.com/portfolio/diner.htm
This is the first post in a long time and so I admit total failure at "post-a-day." I disappointed my viewers, I apologize to both of you.
Let Squishy Mollusk kick off the return of (less frequent) doodle-blogging!
Would it scare a child?
Causes sleeping sickness
Found in the body normally, but when they get out of control they can cause things like thrush, which is a nasty foamy mouth disease, and other worse stuff. You are welcome
Ok, let's see if this does the trick
I got nothin'
I drew the one in the middle first, and I was thinking "that doesn't look like a seed."
Maybe related to deep-sea thermal jets? Who knows where this is coming from, it's certainly not what I should be doing right now.
same circles, more work
A real botanical this time
Looks Venetian to me.
I think I am going to go back and draw on this more.
Abstract botanicals strike back with "tuber." Special thanks to the International for a little afternoon inspiration.
Doodling on the plane, maybe her pose comes from me being squished up in my chair.
AlItalia had a 2 hour delay. Made the door to door about 16 hours from Rome to NY, but it did not seem to onerous. A little sketching, a little sleeping, a little cramped.
A Roman copy, in marble, of a Greek bronze. At the Borghese Galleries in the Borghese Gardens. An amazing place although they only let you stay 2 hours at a pop. Bastards.
Done from the roof of St. Agnes in Agone where we were staying.
Later on the train
Sitting at bar Proseco waiting for my train to Rome.
Just the arches this time, not the altar itself.
I have nothing smart to say about the Frari, but it is a hell of a place.
The Biennale is great people watching of course
I love this spot. A lot of the Biennale takes place in Venice's Arsenale . I was unable to scam a pass this day, but I did spend some time sketching just outside the gate in the rain.
I like this drawing, but it is totally unfair to Ben who is actually a good looking guy and not some scary gargoyle like this image. It may have come out like this because I was hot and cranky and cramped on our train trip to Venice.
My window looks out on Piazza Navona right onto Bernini's
Fountain of the Four Rivers. So I had the chance to draw this figure from above, which is unusual. It represents the Rio de Plata.
